Country Specific Restricted and Prohibited

Items

Restricted Items
A permit is required to import certain commodities into the country. Permits may be obtained by contacting the relevant
government authority. Permits should be obtained prior to purchasing and shipping the item to your US address. Importing a
restricted item without having first obtained a permit may attract fines.

Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture & Fisheries Permits
Meats, animals, animal feed, eggs, seeds, fruits, vegetables, plants, plant products, milk-based products, ground provisions, and the
like, require a permit and/or a phytosanitary certificate from MICAF (the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture & Fisheries),
formerly MOA (the Ministry of Agriculture), to enter the country. Click here for more information about MICAF.

Ministry of Health Permits
Food, energy drinks, skin bleaching products, pharmaceuticals (including dietary supplements and sex enhancers), chemicals,
herbal products, and the like, require a permit from the Pharmaceutical Regulatory Affairs Division of the Ministry of Health to enter

Ministry of National Security Permits
Firecrackers, flares, laser lights, pepper spray, gunpowder, bullets, credit card readers, bow and arrows, gun holsters, guns and parts
thereof, riot gear, metal detectors, toy guns, swords, radar detectors, handcuffs, stun guns, spears, crossbows, bulletproof vests,
camouflage clothing & material, and the like, require a permit from the Ministry of National Security. Click here for more information

Prohibited Items
Prohibited items are absolutely forbidden from entering Jamaica. Prohibited items include indecent and obscene prints, paintings,
photographs, cinematograph films, lithographs, engravings, books, cards or written communications or any indecent or obscene
articles whether similar to the above or not and any parcels, packages or packets having thereon, or on the cover thereof, any
words, marks or designs which are grossly offensive or of an indecent or obscene character.
